This test uses ultrasound to measure the bone mass density in your heel bone, which closely matches the density of your hip bone. The measurement is an important indicator of your overall skeletal strength.
How the test is performed
After removing your shoe and sock (the test only needs performing on one foot) you will be asked to place your foot inside the ultrasound machine and your technician will measure your bone density. (This is not a substitute for a DEXA scan, which is a diagnostic x-ray.)
